THIS WEEK AT CONGREGATION BETH SHALOM of the BLUE HILLS
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN DONATION CHALLENGE!!!
In the true spirit of the New Year, a few very generous donors to our Capital Campaign have offered to increase their pledge by $18,000 collectively if we get at least that much in pledges over the next few weeks.
That means your donation will go twice as far!!!
Please be as generous as you are able to help us reach our goal.
The remainder needed to raise is just under $600,000–woo hooo!!!
Thanks so much in advance, and Shana Tova.

A BRIEF THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Too Much of a Good Thing is Not a Good Thing
Alison and I spent our honeymoon in Costa Rico.  The last day of our trip was the first day of the rainy season.  After picture perfect weather from day one, in the mid afternoon of that last full day we were met with a Noah-esque deluge.  Quite amazing.  Considering the torrential storm suffered a few days ago by those in South Carolina, here is the last part of the “Prayer for Rain” we recited at Shmini Atzeret services this past Monday – the beginning of the rainy season in Israel.
“You are Adonai our G-d who causes the wind to blow and the rain to fall.
May it do so:
For a blessing, not for a curse, (Amen)
For life, not for death, (Amen)
For abundance, not for famine. (Amen)
Shabbat Shalom, RabbiB

—————————————————————————————————————DONATE DONATE YOUR CAR TODAY!

Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills has partnered with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) to offer an exciting new way to donate to our Capital Campaign, by donating a car, boat, or other motorized vehicle. It’s simple to do. Just visitwww.donatingiseasy.org or call 855-500-RIDE (7433). Tell them you would like to donate your vehicle on behalf of Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills and they will do the rest, including picking up your vehicle and sending you a receipt for the amount it was sold for after the sale has been complete. We get most of the funds from every transaction and you get a tax deduction, a real win/win. This is available to us on a nationwide basis, so please spread the word to your family and friends and consider donating today.

AN EASY AND UNUSUAL WAY TO EARN MONEY FOR YOUR FAMILY
AND THE TEMPLE BUILDING FUND HAS SURFACED:

Temple member Annette Koplovsky is doing a market research study with kids between 6-17 years old who currently have colds with chest congestion. This study involves participating in two 45 minute interviews. Participants will receive $125 for each of the two interviews and the Temple will receive a $100 referral fee for each one completed. The child needs to be interviewed within 3 days of onset of cold symptoms, so please call Annette Koplovsky as soon as possible at 617-696-9481, or 617-417-1653 if your child fits this criteria and you’d like to do this. A few temple members have already participated, and indicated that it was an easy process. Thank you in advance to anyone who participates.
